This wasn’t a very planned article, but I was looking at all the neat things I’ve found on the internet for developers over the past few weeks that I had to show them! If you know of any more cool/neat repositories or API’s please comment and let me know!

Shave: Dollar Shave Club 🪒

Now you may be wondering “What would a hygiene company have to do with web design and development?” Well to my realization a few weeks ago, A LOT. The people over at Dollar Shave Club have made it easy to keep yourself and your website well-groomed! Now how do they achieve such an amazing feat? They created a Javascript Plugin that truncates text to fit within an element based on a set max-height ✁ So, in essence, there is no scraggly text that offsets the overall design of your website! This by far, has to be the easiest way to put a little ‘merica into your project. This project adds CSS classes to your project that allows you to add stars and stripes ANYWHERE. Not only that, but it also uses Freedom Units! You can find more information about this add-on by clicking here!

Bacon Ipsum 🥓

If you’re anything like me, meat is one of your favorite things to eat. Whether it be steak, pork, chicken, or even… BACON. If you’re a developer, there’s a 110% chance that you’ve run into the “Lorem Ipsum” text. This add-on allows you to switch out that old Lorem Ipsum text with something meatier! Another person that likes America, Freedom, and Bacon is Ron Swanson! For those of you who have yet to watch Parks and Rec. First of all, you really need to go and watch it! Second, Ron Swanson is a fictional character from the television show “Parks and Rec” where he was Director of the Pawnee Parks and Recreation Department. Ron believes in the elimination of government waste, and during his tenure always brought the department under budget.
